Many thanks to him!
September is already here and i’m glad to launch a new serie of gigs at le Batofar called POLAAR.
This new night in Paris will focus on Bass Music in its large sense, from tribal to house, from techno to booty bass, from uk funky to moombahton. There are so many good music, why only focussing on one ? :)
For the first edition, i’m delighted to receive 2 of my heroes: DIAMOND BASS & LEO JUSTI.
Diamond Bass is an portugese artist living in London. His music is representativ of this 2 facts, cos he likes to cross over kuduro/tribal music to uk funky or house, creating something really refreshing and exciting. He regulary signs tunes on Enchufada, Buraka Som Sistema‘s label, which is definitly a good sign.
Leo Justi is Rio new sensation! This young prodigy has recently remixed MIA‘s new single, « Bad Girls », and got loads of interests from MTV IGGY, the Fader, Spin or NY Post. He has created a wicked crossover between Baile Funk & Electro, top quality.
So this new POLAAR event supposed to be VERY cool, come say hi if you’re in Paris this thursday!
This post is for my buddies in Lyon and its area!
This week end there’ll be the fantastic festival Les Démons d’Or. Located in the countryside of les Mont d’Or, this festival has gained a very nice reputation these last few years, for both their line ups & their really friendly atmosphere.
So i’m really glad to be part of the festival this year. I’ll be playing on saturday, with MANKIND HI-FI, IRATION STEPPAS, MONKI & DR ROOTS feat. MC RUNIGGA & MATT TRACKER.
But the question is… am i gonna play my live set or not ? :) give your answer here: https://www.facebook.com/Floretherealone/posts/382878151776857?notif_t=share_comment

Last time i was in London was few month ago, so i’m pretty excited about this one! 229 The Venue is in central London and they have wicked line up (Tinie Tempah is playing there this month!!!).
On that night, loads of live bands and some wicked DJs… Cheap bar all night (it is important!) and a mix of Dance/Electro/Disco/Dubstep from artists like Lighthouses, Folie Ordinaire,
Douce Angoisse, Blendah and myself.
If you don’t know what to expect….
FLORE PROMO MIX FOR GLISTEN RECORDS by Flore
50 releases, for an independant label, it is a lot. With the sells going down, most label’s are unfortunately stopping early, being unable to cover the costs.
I have known the crew for some time now. I first met Asad, the label manager who became a very good friend of mine, and with whom i like spending hours sharing ideas, listening music & bubbling. From the time i met him, i knew this guy had a vision. And that’s probably why Funkatech is still strong in the game. He’s a big source of inspiration for me.
The label went from straight breaks to proper club music, in its large sense. You can find electro, dubstep, breakstep and crossover stuff, but always with this top quality forward thinking and futuristic sound.
Far Too Loud had the priviledge to host this 50th release. Far Too Loud is famous for its HEAVY electro/funky/ravy/tecky tunes. « Ready to Stomp » is a four track EP, and it’s probably one of its best.
Personnally, when i DJ i’m more into what NAPT is releasing on their new Red Sugar label, but i always pay close attention to Funkatech release’s: as a producer i think these guys are probably the best electronic musician in the scene. Far Too Loud tunes are not always my thing but damn, it always sounds HUUUGE! Try his tunes on a dancefloor, you’ll see it’s hard to find a track to play straight after (except if u go for another Far Too Loud tune ehehe). And the same things happen with the rest of the crew.
Other Funkatech acts are Specimen A, who’s making severe damages in the dubstep scene, PYRAMID, top quality breakstep duo, Miss Trouble MC (actually touring with Elisa Do Brasil) & brand nu collab James D’Ley.
Cubit has just recorded a mixtape showcasing where Funkatech is and where it is going…. watch out for the Stomp!!!

Just found this wicked release available for free download. It features some of my favorites producers like Leo Justi & Thunderbird Juicebox, and the result is wicked! highly recommended!
Few month ago i told you about a Contest happening in Lyon, to discover upcoming producers & live acts. The ones who smashed it that night and won the contest are The Mango…
Here are some slice of what you’ve missed
La surprise du chef by The Mango
The Shoes – Cover your Eyes (The Mango remix) by The Mango
So i wanted to know more about them…
Hi the mango! So, how was your show at le Tremplin Electro ? what kind of feedbacks did u get ?
It went very well from our side! We really enjoyed ourselves on stage, we were first stressed but once in front of the public, things went naturally. We wanted to do an energic & ecclectic set & to communicate with the crowd, and we’ve been surprised by the very positiv reaction of the people. All the professionnals who came have congratulated us, so all good!
Tell us a bit more about you…
We both have very different background. Pierre is a musician, he loves Jazz & blues. He did a sound ingeneer school, he’s the technician, with a very severe ear.
The only problem with him is his taste for teen music & passion for congas. At the moment, he’s really into all the Tech House actual shit, like Format:b, Gucci Vump, Gesaffelstein, Pleasurekraft..
Aubry has discovered electronic music earlier. DJ for many years, he has a strong experience of the stage and this world. He loves loads of different kind of electronic music, like Ricardo Villalobos, Marcel Dettmann, Jennifer Cardini, and also Warp or everything electroclash. It adds consistency to our influences.
Everything all together make us do minimal-tech, sometimes breaky or housy, kind of music. We’re not afraid of trying other things.
Any gigs coming ?
We have a remix due very soon on Goldigger (Heards or Tails), pretty strong. We’re just finished a remixes of Chromeo & the Shoes available as free download on our soundcloud page and actually we are working hard on our first EP. We are pretty unexperienced and we progress daily, so we need some time to experiment in order to make our production & style grow. We’d love to have a second ep out in september, some remixes & live gigs!
Besides that, we had the opportunity to play alongside confirmed talents like Beat Torrent, les Marble Players, Club Cheval or Deadmau5 recently. We are also playing in Lyon the 7th of july at la Marquise for a JeudiOrgie, and we’ll be at the Social Club with Ivan Smagghe later this summer.
What do you think about both the local and national scenes in France ?
There’s a lot of upcoming artists in Rhone-Alpes, it looks like les Nuits Sonores Festival has inspired loads of people to get more involved. We have very good relationship with crews such as Art Feast or Dawn Records in Lyon, Classical in Clermont-Ferrand, we’ve actualy already shared the stage together and we love their music sensibilities. I think Lyon is a good place to practice cos people are demanding, but it’d be good if the scene was bigger. There’s a lack of proper clubs here, with regular electronic music events. But the good thing is that artists stand together, there’s an healthy competition and it’s pretty cool!
What could promoters do to help upcoming artists ?
I think contests like the Bangclub d’Artfeast is a strong idea, maybe multiply events like this, of course booking these upcoming artists to support big names, simplify the contact with politics in order to have official support, etc… But things are slowly going this way.
Here it is. For more infos & music, please go this way!

For the second year, ArtFeast organises a music contest in Lyon, at la Marquise, in order to discover new talent in electronic music. It has to be played live with 100% original tunes (or personnal remixes – but no dj set) and the participant needs to live in Lyon or in the area.
After 2 weeks of selection, the jury, constituted of professionals in the local music business has selected 7 artists who all have different styles, from electro to dubstep.
I myself belong to the jury, so i wanted to make a personnal focus on all of them…
DaTraxer: Unfortunately i was too late to download the biography, so i don’t know much about DaTraxer, and the biography part of his website is not updated. So what i know is that he has already released several tracks INTERFERENCES and a remix of WE ARE TERRORISTS on BOXON Records. His style is pure electro, funky & glitchy. Might go really well in clubs i guess. The quality of production is very good but maybe a bit too over-compressed for my taste. But i think it is the style rules ;)

Square Tune Magician: what a nice name isn’t it ? :) STM is an ex-video game addict who like to combine 8bit sounds & melodies to proper dancefloor beats, sometimes electro, sometimes in a more grimey way. The result is pretty surprising cos most of the tunes have these epic melodies you can find in oldschool games such as Final Fantasy or such, and sometimes merged with hip hop vocals eheh. It sounds pretty weird and might go really well on a dancefloor too. Pretty curious to hear that live…

Winner Louise: This is what we call bangers. I personnally don’t like this kind of music, it is a bit too Ed Banger-ish for me, but i can recognize that the prodcution quality is very high and i’m sure kids will go nuts on the dancefloor. I just think a bit more of substance and personnality would make these tunes even more interesting. But we all start with copying other don’t you think ?

Aggregare: this guy has a very own style. You can feel the techno/electronica influence in his music… I’m curious to hear it live, see if it is dancefloor-friendly or not…
Mayday: this is a very new & fresh band of 3 boys, Pierre Fage, Simon Jurus & Leo Boudet. Loads of ambient & progressiv techno in there. I’m not a huge fan but it sounds pretty good for guys who are making music for only a couple of month…
MCTF: don’t know much about this guy, which is a shame (artists – NEVER forget to add a small biography & correct tags to your mp3 when you submit it to someone!!!! ). Very ecclectic house music. A bit ambient, a bit experimental. I think it needs a bit of work on the mixdown, but i like the variety of sounds & atmosphere you can find in this set.

The Mango: 2 french producers from Paris (not Lyon??? :). Loads of techno/breaks inspiration in there. I like it, might go well in clubs. But i’m curious to hear more to define a proper identity to the project….
