The vibe was excellent, with awesome mixes from The Town & Matsa, with their elegant and sexy house, and Arystoth for his vibrant dubstep mix. The aim of POLAAR is to be an eccelctic night, and it was !

This thursday it’s POLAAR time again!!
what is POLAAR ? POLAAR is a new night i’m running at le Batofar, a boat on the Seine in Paris. It’s a very cool & warm place, where you can also have a drink or diner, with a really club in the hold.
This is the 3rd POLAAR event i’m doing, and this time i’m really excited to have The Town, a french duo who released awesome tunes lately on ClekClekBoom. They come from a Chicago House background but what i love about their music is this uk house influence too… it is very groovy, pretty deep & with vibrant atmospheres. I can’t wait to listen to their mix ! Alongside, my mate Matsa will mix dub techno for the warm up (it’s gonna be intense!), and the upcoming dubstep dj Arystoth will show us his techno orientated sound. What an exciting line up!

You like Bass Music in its large sense ? well, this projet is for you!
Laurent Pasquier is a french film maker and his working on a documentary about Bass Music, interviewing its main actors, shooting them at parties or in the studio, all over Europe.
The idea is to show the evolution of this style, which takes its influences in every music genders and its popularity in Europe but also in the US.
The list of the names being shoot in this video is huge: Dj Hype, Mala , Son of Kick, Niveau Zero, Stenchman, Goldie, The Others, Roska, Captain Crunch, Habstrakt, The Bug, Noisia, Congo Natty to only name a few...
The film is in the process but they’re looking for some sponsors in order to finish it and putting in on DVDs.
So if you’d like to help (even a couple of euros can help!) feel free to check the KissKissBankBank webpage, or share the infos to the ones who may be interested !

Synthesize #3 ‘electro’
I have to admit, i’ve discovered Batida & Soundway records only a couple of month ago (i’ll go to hell for this ;)
But since then, i’m a fan. Batida has released a very good selft titled album last year, which combines samples from old 1970s Angolan tracks with modern electronic dance music. The result is a very vivid and exciting album, the kind of album you wanna listen in the morning, so you have sun in your heart :)
Boiler Room has just uploaded his live performance on soundcloud, and i advice you to have a listen. You’ll be seduced.
Wicked mixtape from GenerationBass blog boss DJ Umb. Showcasing the « new » zouk bass genre, just another member of the global bass family.
Artists musicians are giving most of the time their music for free.
So i think the less we can do is sharing to our friends these tunes so they can at least get some interest from other people, it’s the less they can ask for as there’s only a few artists really earning money from the MP3 they’re selling.
So please, support independant labels, artists, and if they’re giving away tunes or mixes, let’s share.
